I found this stuff at 99 Ranch and even though it says it is made by Quaker (under license in Taiwan), I couldn’t find a word about it on the interwebs. I was able to learn that eight or ten treasures porridge is often related to Laba, a Chinese lunar festival. This one contain lots of cool stuff like beets, carrots, tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, beans, black glutinous rice, buckwheat, and other grains. I threw away the sticker with the ingredients in English but as you can see, the box has pictures.
There were no directions in English and I couldn’t find anything online but from what I could gather from other stuff about Asian breakfast porridges, you need to soak this stuff for a while, which takes away from the “instantitude” but not much compared to how long it would take to prepare something like this. The batch in the picture isn’t really soupy enough but properly prepared (at least according to my guess), it is really good and convenient. As usual, I loaded it up with hot sriracha and some soy. Very satisfying, and not overly processed according to what I remember from the ingredient sticker.

I can’t read it either. Just add water, boil, simmer till it has the texture you like. More water for congee, less for oatmeal. I make mine more in the congee style. I start with 3 Thai chilies, a bunch of grated ginger, 3 cloves of garlic, black pepper, and Bragg or soy sauce. After, garnish with vegetarian meat floss (Evo Pork or Fish flavor are my faves, ) fried garlic or onions, etc…

Just bought some of this in Taipei. I’m going to soak it for an hour or so and then throw it in the rice cooker. Hopefully it won’t be too overcooked.
